The climate is not the only thing that has decided to change, but it is also our bag choice. Our bags tend to become an overnight bag that is just used during the day. This is because we are now carrying way more than just out cell phones and wallets; we have scarves, hats, and gloves to deal with. Plus we are wearing bigger coats that make our arms bigger so a shoulder bag doesn’t stay or even fit on our shoulders anymore. This can be terribly frustrating to some, but there are a few ways that we can solve this problem of what bag to use when the big winter coats come out that is still fashionable.

One way that I try to stay fashionable is by using a bag with longer straps and that is bigger in size. The longer straps make it easier to slip onto you shoulder and the bigger the bag the more room you have to store your gloves and scarf when you decide to take them off. This time of year I am always using my large Longchamp bag; I can honestly say it was the best $115 I ever spent. This bag has seen me through many seasons and can double as a great overnight bag or even a school bag. What makes this bag so wonderful is its straps are long enough so that they fit on my shoulders when I am wearing my big winter coat. Also it is large enough for me to fit my gloves and my scarf into; I can even fit my coat into it if I needed to. This bag is very durable and made of a nylon fabric so it is great in any weather condition. I also suggest that when using a large bag like a Longchamp to use a stylish makeup bag or a much tinier bag to put your cell phone and wallet in so that you can find them quickly. Don’t let your big bag become a bottomless pit; you may miss out on a very important phone call from Mr. Right. Great small bags to use are the Louis Vuitton Poche Tolletto 26 ($260), the Monogram Pouch also made by Louis Vuitton ($285), or any of the COACH wristlets to tie around one of the handles (range in price from $48 to $168.)

Other ways that I stay fashionable during the winter is by using oversize hobos. They are great because of their size again and they can double as either a shoulder bag or a handbag. I tend to carry my oversize hobo so that it rests on my arm; I find this the most comfortable way to carry any of my bags. To stay fashionable I would recommend the Large Hobo with Horse bit Detail by Gucci ($1205.)

I think by using any bag that is large with a large handle works the best during the winter because the larger the bag the more balanced you will look in your big coat. If you don’t have a large oversized bag I think right now is a great time to invest in one because I don’t see oversized bags going out of style any time soon. So when you pull out your big coat to stay warm, also pull out your big bag; I know I will!
