At Handbag Designer 101, we are proud to say that we are a medium and more than a blog. In fact, we avoid being called a blog as we take pride in discovering and shedding light in so many designers that would typically never get this platform of recognition.
That said, we are fully aware of what's going on in the economy and more importantly, the world of small business. People are getting laid off, losing homes and the concept of the luxe accessory could makes most these days shopping incognito as if not to rub their $5000 bag in the next person's face. However, it is our job to remain and be optimistic. Why you might ask? Because we see the tremendous amount of talent out there that exists and feel honored and flattered to be that vehicle to bring it to you. We humbly take credit for inspiring hundreds of people out there for starting their handbag lines and for thinking that it is sometimes more acceptable to find a bag by someone who no one knows than to wear one that everyone has seen.
With New Year's upon us, we can certainly hope that most have decided to take advantage of these grim times and to do their best to turn that frown upside down. The application process for the
Third Annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards will be opening earlier this year with new categories to bring a little 'sparkle' and 'kick' that will make most people gasp and have a sigh of relief that we are not going to cancel the one event that most seem to be looking forward to. With over 1000+ designers in our
Handbag Designer Registry
and a minimum of 5 joining a week, don't you think it's time for you to finally follow through on that dream of being a Handbag Designer? Take a look at our
Designer of the Day profiles and scroll through the hundreds people who have done just that from from Japan to Finland and Oklahoma to Uruguay - what are you waiting for? Carpe diem. Carpe handbag.
