This seam is used in non-fraying fabrics such as fleece, man-made suede and other similar fabrics. Your machine must have a built-in Blind Hem, Blanket or Pin stitch to obtain this finish. Finished result is a clean flat seam, which is also reversible. Using this method eliminates bulk and seam edges inside the handbag.
1) Set your machine to a Pin, Blanket or Blind Hem stitch. Use the widest stitch width setting available on your machine. (If using a Blind Hem stitch, set the length to between 0.5 and 1.0)
2) Trim away 3/8-inch from each seam allowance.
3) Pin right sides of fabric together.
4) Sew along the edge of the fabric so that the straight edge of the stitch catches the 2 edges of the fabric and that the needle swings over into the garment, when creating the Pin, Blanket or Blind Hem stitch.
5) When the seam is complete, open up the seam, by pulling the fabric pieces apart. Press seam flat.
