At the age of fifteen; after years of trying to find outfits that fit my personal style, I began designing and sewing clothing and accessories of my own. I pursued my love for design and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Apparel Design in 2001. Soon after I moved to New York City, and became a designer. After working in the fashion industry for close to five years, I finally felt it was the right time to branch out and create a line of my own. Soon after in 2005, Antoinette Lee Designs was born! I feel that handbags represent who you are and tell a lot about your personality. That’s why I wanted design handbags; to a part of representing a person’s personal style and individuality. I am currently working on my Fall/Winter 2007 line, where I am combining the best features of my two previous lines to design a very versatile look. I want each bag to look fabulous in a solid color-way but still work when translated into a fun print or texture.

I focus on using the highest quality leathers, suede, and hardware to ensure a long life for each bag. My inspiration begins when I see a selection of leathers, suede, and fabrics to create my new line. I get inspired by their colors, textures, and finishes. Combine that with everyday experiences of New York City and working in the fashion industry, and my ideas truly begin to form.

I like to design a variety of styles to fit all occasions. So whether its that must have, sleek everyday bag that you “carry your life” in; or a fun and edgy bag that is the finishing touch to your night out on the town, I have a bag to fit your every need!

I was designing my first line around a black printed suede with accents of gold and purple. I was in the process of getting my first samples made; and my suede vendor just informed me that they no longer carry or can reproduce my printed suede! I had to start from scratch searching for another printed suede that would match just as good for my line. Fortunately in the end it all worked out, and I had a great first line.

The greatest achievement is when someone places an order from my site. There are so many choices in handbags, and to know someone chooses an Antoinette Lee Designs handbag to represent their own personal style is the greatest reward of all.
