Right now I do contracted bags for small stores. In the last year someone [my divorce attorney!] approached me about backing me and a line of handbags to get out there. I need to get my business kicked up a few notches or more! so I can financially survive. My inspiration usually comes from the fabric, the hardware, a picture place or memory. I grew up learning knitting and crocheting with my grandmother on Shelter Island, sewing with my mother, making my clothes for school. I spent many years in the restaurant business and have come full circle to re-create myself once again using the skills and talent I inherited. My bags are one of a kind very feminine not so much trendy as special and appeal to all women.

Years ago a friend opened a store where we made clothes. I started making fabric bags which sold well, and I just concentrated on the demand and how much I enjoyed making them. I make bags using unusual fabrics, vintage fabrics hand painted fabrics as well as knitted bags using hand painted yarns. 

My biggest nightmare always has to do with my machine- I use a standard sewing machine and it takes a beating sewing thru so many thicknesses- I now have a back up always ready to go.  My greatest achievement is just being able to be creative and using my talents create an income in my home. I am a single mom with 3 children, 2 daughters at home - my 16 year old seeing me succeed at my own creative business, my 21 year old d is severely handicapped and I am available to her and to work around her disabilities. At the end of the day I am very thankful for my business!
