Sloane & Alex is named after two cousins and best friends who are crazy about accessories. Their parents, who are friends of mine, founded the label and asked me to design the line. I’ve been designing handbags for many years and the new Sloane & Alex collection is a creative outlet for my younger alter ego. Sloane & Alex offers young women a fresh, well designed line, with sophisticated looks that cover the gamut. We’re thrilled that the premiere collection is on shelves.

The collection features supple Italian nappa leathers, faux python printed leather and tooled leather in a Western motif. Signature embellishments include oversized crocodile embossed leather buckles, embroidered floral patches and silver and gold chain details. The bags feature a unique hand-painted water color lining with signature Sloane & Alex ribbon logo throughout. The line is geared for girls in their 20’s and offers a well designed, fun, yet sophisticated look for girls to carry to their first job out of college.

One thing I have learned after going through this process many times is to keep in mind that when you make anything from scratch, there’s bound to be difficulties in the creation. I like to use mishaps to my advantage and ultimately work harder and be more creative.  The new Sloane & Alex line features design techniques that I’ve been using for many years. We apply love and care to every bag in the collection from the beginning of the design process to the end.
