I'm a 37 year old man from Israel. In the past 3 years I have been living in Indonesia. I'm developing a "green" project for production of fashion accessories made of recycled waste and rubbish, as well as natural materials. So far I developed 9 lines using 9 different materials. I constantly continue exploring new waste types trying to come up with new ways of giving it a second life.

The materials I'm using are used fashion magazines, used newspapers, used rice sacks, used tires, used inner tubes, used cans, used bottle tops, and natural materials such as dried flowers and leaves.
My target audience is women who care for the environment. What makes my bags unique is the concept of using material that yesterday was considered absolutely useless, and turning it into a beautiful practical product that brings joy to its' user.

Everything started in 2006, when I was introduced to the unfortunate poverty and waste situation in Indonesia. My intention was to create a project that will help somewhat to improve the situation of both problems.

As the materials used in my bags sort of self-telling their own story, it is important for me to tell that the process of making the bags is a source of income for about a hundred of uneducated disadvantaged Indonesian village women. My project provides not only the job opportunity for making the bags, but also the opportunity to collect waste around the village and sell it to me.

A design nightmare story - When I made my first order of dried flower bags, some fly lay its' eggs on the dried flowers between the process of dehydrating to the process of integrating the flowers onto the bags. I was not aware of that, and when the bags arrived to my customer after few days on the way, the flowers were not there anymore, only warms and powder. It was a real disaster. But the process of recovering from the embarrassments and the financial lost was a great lesson for me.

Most of the village women who do pay per piece jobs for me never had a chance to make their own money before my project. They were completely dependent on their husbands and family for their living. For me seeing the smile on the face after receiving the payment for their work is the reason why it was all worth it.
