When I began designing the N8KD (pronounced Naked) handbag line I treated it like an infant. I made sure I gave it everything that it needed to grow up healthy and strong. Now at a toddler stage the bags are manifesting into their own personalities and designs.  When I create my bags any material is an option as long as I can make it functional. Usually what I use is leather, canvas, metal, and paint. N8KD is for the unique individual. The one who wears what they want to wear because they just want to. They are not tied down by trends. They are unique and expressive. Which is why my designs consist of either one of a kind or limited edition designs. What makes the N8KD line so special is the fact that the consumer will know that either they are the only one in the world with a particular design or one of eight in the world. Either way they are a part of something special.

The funny thing about N8KD was that it was supposed to be strictly a tee shirt line but I have always had a great fondness for handbags vintage as well as new and I guess you can say somewhat of an addiction. My husband said to me that my bags were out of control and he is banning me from buying a new one which was fine by me because he didn't say anything about making my own. So now I can share the love I have for bags through my designs for other bag addicts. What is unique about the N8KD line is that men and women designs are cohesive in a subtle way. They might have different colors but if looked at closely enough you can see why certain male shirts are paired with female bags or tees or sneakers. It's a way of couples dressing alike without dressing alike.

My design nightmare was when I was working on a patent leather bag for my first show in April and I was having the worst time with these rhinestones I was trying to embellish the bag with because they kept falling off. Then to top it off the lining kept ripping because it was too fine and could not hold weight so I had to redo the bag and find another way to execute it. My biggest achievement and reason why it's all worth it is my team. I am happy that I have selected the right people to be there to help me out and support. Otherwise I wonder if I would even be able to do it. It makes all the stress worth it and the compliments even more grand.
