| The Divine Tribe is a collaboration of talent,
education and inspiration spanning 4 continents, culminating in a signature best
defined as "urban-exotic." We have just introduced out Spring 2009 collection
and are continuing to have success with our Fall 2008 line. We have been
designing and making handbags, specifically, since 2003. We are known for our
use of exotic skins, our high grade original hardware and our furniture inspired
woven patterns. All of our hardware is designed and molded by and for The Divine
Tribe only, making our bags truly original. We use the likes of Eel skin, fresh
water snake, ostrich, and lambskin, all vegetable dyed. We feel that exotic
skins, as opposed to embossed leather, really stand out and represent our target
audience.
We appeal to women aged 20 and up who aren't afraid to show their urban
exotic side. She is a professional who loves to step outside the safe trends of
the season. She is bold and is an absolute hand bag lover! The Divine Tribe is
continually inspired by the earth and it's inherent wealth. Our lines of exotic
skin hand bags and accessories give to the bounty nature provides. Our designs
respectfully engage in a style explicitly appreciative of the world's riches in
tribute to people who treasure it.
The Divine Tribe is an engagement of style by designers and destined partners
with a common lifelong passion. It is a collaboration of talent, education and
inspiration spanning four continents, culminating in a signature best defined as
'urban-exotic.' Chad Ypon, a photographer and jewelry designer of Filipino
descent and myself, Elison, a Parsons and FIT graduate and women's leather
clothing designer combine their talent and inspiration to make The Divine Tribe.
We share a common love for travel. When we lived in India, we would
hand stitch pants together and add our own signature to them. While working at a
flea market selling our original handmade pants, I got violently ill. Chad had
to rush me to the airport, per her doctor's request, to get her back to the
states for health care. He had to leave all of our designs behind in good faith
that no one would steal them. Upon his return, everything was gone and we were
left with nothing. Luckily, I regained my health and we have been keeping a much
closer eye on our designs ever since.
In 2007, we had an opportunity to represent their handbags on Home Shopping
Network. I love being the spokes person for The Divine Tribe on HSN. While I was
nervous at first, as it was my first television experience, but I seemed to be a
natural and we found a lot of success with HSN. This by far after all of our
experiences has been what has made it all worth it.
