RanHeeJoo has just launched its first line. I am starting with small line to see how people would react to my design. RanHeeJoo design is about being one of a kind piece that is timeless. Anyone in any age should be able to imagine themselves in this design. It's for those who wants luxury product that could be used everyday with any outfit. In order to achieve this, I use quality leather that will last a long time through everyday use. I choose leather not only for its durability but also for its beautiful nature of material. Leather can achieve so many different look through different design whereas fabric or nylon materials can only achieve so much.
I use satin cotton lining to give luxury, but not-too-fancy sheen to interior. Designing own hardware and using a top quality hardware is a "must list" because I feel that that's where the brand identity and details live. Lastly, my design combines different texture and finish by using shiny crinkled patent leather and matte cowhide or lambskin leather.

Designing handbag wasn't really what I had in mind when I graduated from RISD with industrial design degree. I was trained to design something with hard materials, but maybe that's why I gained strong interest for handbag design. The idea of making a three dimensional product with a soft material was what attracted me. As I earned my confidence by designing for several companies, I created a brand so that I could design bags that are fully my design without limitations or anyone's input. As an industrial designer, it's in my blood to want to create something that is innovative and functional. I guess this is what makes my bags so special because it will always be fresh and creative with function in mind.

I don't have a design nightmare and I hope to continue to avoid them. I believe that a design nightmare can be avoided if every step of design is carefully thought out and considered. Experiences from the past also helps as well.  It is all worth it because this design is who I am. I put my heart into it and I believe it will return in a good way. The return may not always be in a form that I wish but I know it somehow help me in a long run. Every step of the process was the achievement for me. Every little thing has helped me in some way. I once heard that everyone has to take a risk. The result will always be helpful no matter what. If you fail, then you will learn from mistake and if you succeed, then you've made an achievement. I'm always ready to take the risk and it is all worth it for this reason.
