My background is quite diverse. I first started off as a jewelry designer and also worked in a jewelry  store for about a couple of months but then my passion for bags just took over and jewelry designing took a back seat. I’ve always been interested in creating designs and that’s how I started designing bags. From sourcing the right material to the accessories used to finding the right person to manufacture my designs to reality with superb quality and finishing was quite interesting. My label is called “PEPPER” and it was founded in June, 2007. As of now, my bags are retailing at the various high end designer stores across India as well as the U.A.E. I’m also involved with numerous exhibitions that take place around the year.

I use various kinds of material for my bags. There’s faux leather, suede, satin, velvet, raw silk, brocade etc. My target audience would be anyone who has a fetish for bags or an Avid bag lover who has an eye for perfection and great design and that’s what PEPPER bags are all about. My continued inspiration would be the glam and glitz in life. PEPPER bags are really glamorous which explains my “DIVA GLAM” collection where there is a lot of use of “bling bling” brooches, big roses, etc. What makes my bags so special is the uniqueness in the design.

PEPPER was not planned. It all just took its course. I started with 5 bags initially to see the response I got from my friends and family and they all seemed to love my work and thereby I had my first exhibition with just a very few pieces. What is interesting about my collection is that each and every design is different from the previous one. It just keeps getting better and better. All my bags are handmade and each and every detail is taken care off. I believe in making bags that would turn heads around and make one stand out in the crowd and that is guaranteed as I’ve experienced it myself!

A design nightmare is yet to happen but yes I do get really worried when a design I’ve created turns out differently than I imagined it. This happens in the manufacturing stage and it can only be solved by effective communication between you and the manufacturer who hand makes the bags. Though I get dreams about bag designs and I would immediately wake up and sketch the design in rough before it’s out of my head when I wake up in the morning! My greatest achievement till date would be when I read my name in the leading newspapers of India, and printed alongside was a picture of my bag. Also leading high end designer stores have loved my work and have stocked my bags at their stores which also gives me great visibility and reach. My bags have been featured in various magazines such as seventeen, India etc. It’s great to see women carrying my bags because at the end of it, it’s my design capabilities that have been appreciated and also it’s great to be known as the designer behind the “PEPPER” bags!
