My passion for designing handbags started while working in a fabric store and I began to make fabric handbags, using store patterns. I've always been creative and loved fashion and art so from using store patterns I began designing my own handbag designs, sometimes designs would come to me in dreams and I would have a sketch pad and pencil on my table to being sketching. I'm currently showcasing my new line of handbags in my boutique.

All of my designs are made using calf leather. I just have always wanted to design leather bags. Eventually I would like to try to incorporate fabric as well. My target audience is women who feel like something is missing without a good, stylish, chic, unique handbag on her arm. A women with style who knows what she wants and goes after it.

I knew this is what I wanted to do so I set out to get a manufacturing company to make my designs. I believed that I had a product that people would like. Once while I was out shopping, I carried one of my bags called "London" and I got so many comments on it and people wanting to know where they could find it. Things began to move along and eventually my line was born.

I now have in my line a handbag called "Lillian" named after my grandmother and this particular design won the national contest through "Marie Claire" and Glam.com, "Be Discovered: Design a Handbag" Out of 300 entries mine was chosen, so this bag has gotten national attention and is now available in my handbag boutique and web.

While preparing to open my boutique I ran into a situation where everything was ready in the store except my bags, I was really counting on this particular design and when I saw the prototype I was horrified, things that should of been there were not and visa versa and time was of the essence, then their company shut down for what seemed an eternity, and there I was with an empty store, for a long time. But when they reopened everything turned out beautifully, I couldn't be more pleased. We really work closely together to achieve the look I'm wanting.

My greatest achievement was being recognized for my work on a national level, it truly means a lot, to design something that people enjoy. Now to have a boutique showcasing my designs is truly a blessing. I have come along way from just having a vision and a dream and passion for what I do. I feel like it all has been worth it. When I had to make my own design (for the contest) and send it to New York to be judged by eight experts in the fashion industry and to come out on top is such an awesome feeling, going to New York for the first time and meeting people in this industry, getting to see first had how things are done, is an experience I'll never forget.
