B.AIKMAN is in its 3rd year of production. Last year it was picked up by two Bay Area Stores and is getting ready to be in 12 more this year@ I t currently continues its on line sales and next month is launching Private Purse Parties! "B an Original like your B.AIKMAN handbag!" Every handbag is one of a kind, custom designed and handmade. the exterior is all hand crocheted using various types of yarn. Most of the interiors are lined with 100% cotton fabric. Several purses include antique buttons and broaches.  My continued inspiration comes from COLOR and Originality! I am inspired every time I go fabric or yarn shopping, I put my hands in my pockets so I don't go overboard! I look for color combinations in the skyline, during my drive from LA to SF, nature, clothing etc.! Each bag shows off the personality and interests of the client! They are hand crocheted!! COLOR ROCKS!

To be honest, my line started out of boredom, believe it or not! I learned to sew and crochet as a young girl but I didn't pick it back up until I started working on TV & FILM sets in Los Angeles. There was so much down time I needed to do something PRODUCTIVE! It started with scarves, hats...the usual and I was bored real fast. I thought "What would it be like if I made a fuzzy handbag?" So, I did! Because I would do most of my production on set, they were noticed by the wardrobe department, purchased and ended up on TV. It was a great place for a blooming business!

Regarding design nightmares, well, it could have been worse...I had an order during the last few weeks of Christmas from an Actor. I made two purses in two days, I even made my boyfriend help me hand sew! I shipped them off in time with express delivery, however, UPS went on strike! In addition to the strike the shipping store misplaced my package and the delivery was now even more behind. After several hours on the phone, apologies and panic, my client had to ride his bike to the UPS warehouse the day before Christmas to pick up the package!

My greatest accomplishment is the ENTIRE process! This business wasn't apart of my future aspirations 5 years ago! I never dreamed I would be a handbag designer! In addition to that they would be on the arms and shoulders of ladies throughout the US, and on TV!!! There is nothing greater than an excited and happy client!!
