Story: I am an industrial design student doing my masters at
the department of industrial design in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. I have always
been making things. In the past I was day and night busy with projects creating
interactive products where I question the essential relevance of a certain
functionality. However I experienced this way of complete engagement all the
time is a creativity killer and did not make me happy. I don't have a
television, and I don't like passive entertainment too much. Therefore I started
making bags in my free time. That is where I am now, on my way to achieve a
master in Industrial Design and create interactive products with a passion for
creating beautiful things like bags. This is my first line.
I often use materials I never worked with before. These experiments give new
insights into forms and possibilities. I like bags to be functional and
surprising. The bag in the picture has a magnet closing which is very functional
and gives a strange but pleasant feeling of forces when opening and closing.
A nightmare for me would be that external resources would limit me in the things
I want to do. For example: financial limitations. But I hope this will never
become a problem by having a pro-active attitude and enough suggestions that fit
my scope and hopefully that of an investor. By giving form to ideas, they
become tangible and real. This in itself is satisfying and gives my head room
for other ideas. This creative process is iterative and is constantly being fed
by the world around me. I am very pleased to give form to this urge and let
other people enjoy the world a bit differently. I hope to create little
revolutions in the lives of people.
