Story: My bags are made to fulfill the persons desire to have
a bag that makes a statement of uniqueness and quiet elegance. The line is
extensive with more than three hundred bags that are independent of one another;
having work on the collection for more than two years I am now ready to
introduce the bags to the market.
I use many indigenous materials, bamboo, rattan, natural fibers as well as
exotic skins that are indicative of the region where I produce my designs. I use
these materials for several reasons; first they are natural which helps to
balance the eco system, the materials I use are so wonderful to work with and to
learn from, textures, stones, feathers natural fibers etc. I follow all rules
and guidelines set forth by the save the world audience. My target audience is
the upper scale of the fashion world, people that have a true sense of style,
understanding why the bag says what it is saying. My inspiration comes from God,
for he has given me the ability to think with a design mind and has given to me
an abundance of materials to work with. What makes my bags special is the care
and concern that goes into each and every bag, made by hand, the smallest of
detail inside and out, the thought process that goes into the why’s do’s and
don’ts. I have a passion to make each bag as perfect as I can not to skimp on
the time it takes to make, the materials, the form and the function of each bag.
That is what makes my bags special.
I started making bags simply because I could not find anyone to read my design
detail mind, so in order to produce the bags in my mind I had to produce them,
designing on paper gives you a starting point but to achieve the actual one must
get their hands dirty, so I open a workshop, purchased machines and tools and
found the people to produce I just knew that I could. The most interesting thing
about my line of bags is that they are all designed by me, signed & numbered and
no two are alike, and nothing copied. I want people to know that when they carry
one of our bags they are carrying a bag that was made for them not the masses.
It is not often that one has the ability to design something new in this world.
Having a workshop in a developing country Murphy’s Law does apply, by producing
here for so long I just don’t know which story would best apply, so for now I
will let one’s imagination run wild. The greatest achievement is when I see the
look on the faces of the workers, seeing how happy they are that they have work
and can be proud, to be able to put food on the table and buy medicine for the
children and once in a while take a holiday to visit love ones and friends, to
know that maybe what is being transferred from the gift that has been given to
me can truly help others to see that there is hope that one day they to can have
their own shop to make something nice. For me that’s why it’s worth it.
