| After a few years of making sure quality, style, design
and production is perfect, Gadino is now getting attention around the world from
small independent shops to luxurious department stores like Bergdorf Goodman and
Harvey Nichols. I want to bring Italian craftsmanship back to the market and all
items are created at artisan factories. All bags come in the softest calf
leather, are handstiched, in classy and sophisticated style and target an
audience that wants the best quality.
The line started with two good friends traveling in the far-east. We were
inspired by all the colors, materials and and new ideas we found in the Asian
countries and the line has later evolved from this inspiration to a more
complete and luxurious line. Being obsessed with great leathers, rich colors and
good quality, moving the production to Italy was required although producing in
Asia for several years has given me valuable experience.
Producing in Italy is both a quality issue as well as a ethical issue, refusing
to buy in to the "high-profit at the cost of the workers." First, The way the
animals are threaded prior to production in the western world is more restricted
than in Asia. Second, The leather produced in Italy contains much less chemicals
than leather produced simply because these chemicals are not allowed in western
Europe. Factory workers producing the leather are therefore not exposed to these
chemicals and nothing be wasted into nature. At my factories I also know that
the workers and the subcontractors are well paid, and not exploited. My aim is
to deliver goods that are of good design and also ethical, prices are higher but
the handbags are very well sewn and will last you a lifetime.
Getting the full collection produced in other materials than agreed on, having
to discontinue the whole seasons deliveries. After launching the Limited
Edition, Gadino has twice been on Forbes list over the "most extravagant
handbags in the world" alongside Chanel and Hermes. Getting great reviews and
feedback from customers and press gives an extra kick to what you do.
