Story: Kage Handbags came to life a few years ago when I
really wanted to do something for myself. I took a night class at FIT and knew I
had found my calling. Soon after, I took a couple of my designs to a producer
and hence the birth of Kage. My bags are made of the finest leathers with an
equestrian twist. My line is constantly evolving.
All of my bags are made of the finest quality Italian leathers including lamb,
goat, and cow. My line is geared towards the girl with very sophisticated taste
who wants a really unique bag made of finest materials and the highest quality,
but doesn't necessarily have to own a "name" brand. My bags have a certain
elegance to them as they are clean in design, with simple pleats and the Kage
signature horseshoe detail.
After working in advertising for 8 years I knew I wanted to do something for
myself. I have always had an obsessive passion for handbags and shoes. After I
finished the class I knew I had to do something further with it and here I am
today. The horseshoe detail on my bags is in honor of my mother who is an avid
horse rider. They also symbolize good luck! So far luckily I haven't come across
any major design disasters (as of yet), however I did just receive my custom
Kage lining and didn't realize I had ordered so much! It's going to last
awhile-but it's SO cute!!
I guess my greatest achievement thus far is the positive response I have gotten
from complete strangers. Recently bagsnob.com did a contest to see if their
readers could guess whose bag Nicole Richie was carrying in US Weekly and I was
thoroughly impressed that a lot of the readers knew it was Kage and guessed
correctly! The ones who didn't guess correctly I was still flattered by because
they were listing designers I look up to and aspire to be! Knowing that Kage has
a following is the greatest feeling in the world!
