Story:
From a very young age I designed and sewed clothes and accessories for myself, my family and friends, and to decorate our home. I have always enjoyed creating something new, that will bring joy to people. To broaden my knowledge and to complement my natural talent I completed several art and fashion design courses. When I was 17 I met my partner in life, and later on in business, and we married a few years later. We raised three wonderful boys, and they are my biggest pride and joy.

Eighteen years ago we moved to the United States, and settled in Los Angeles. From the beginning my husband and I worked in the fashion industry, and in 1992 we started our own business - Dorit Handbags and Accessories. I designed a collection of unique handbags and accessories such as scarves, shawls, and dress clips, and my husband was in charge of sales. Since then, as wholesalers, we have sold thousands of handbags and countless accessories, through specialty boutiques, mainly in Southern California. We have maintained a long term relationships with all of our clients. Recently, we decided to open an online store to make our unique handbags available to everyone all over the US. Naturally, we will stay special and exclusive, and maintain our great quality.

For our bags we use expensive and unique fabrics from all over the world, especially Italy. We painstakingly search for the highest quality and most exclusive fabrics, that are available only in limited quantities. Even the lining of our bags is made from upholstery fabric. Then I personally design and cut each handbag in my studio. The combination of special fabrics and personal attention is what makes our handbags so unique. I really enjoy creating our line of Dorit Handbags - it is not just a job, it is my passion.

My biggest nightmare happened early on when we started our business. I had only one week to design a whole line for a fashion show at the California Mart. For several days I stared at the fabrics but had designer's block. I almost gave up on the show. The day before the show was scheduled to begin I woke up early in the morning and suddenly ideas just streamed through my mind. I worked like crazy for 24 hours and created a full line of beautiful handbags.

My greatest achievement happens every week when the boutiques that carry our handbags call for new orders. But I enjoy most that every time my husband and I walk around Los Angeles we see someone carrying our handbag and I am always excited and amazed at how beautiful they look on every woman - I guess they just complement each other. One day when we sat at a coffee shop we noticed two women crossing the street, one walking proud and happy. In one hand she carried a shopping bag from a boutique that sells our handbags and on her shoulder was the new handbag she just purchased, with the Dorit Handbags tag still attached to the bag.

When I see one of our Dorit Handbags in a store window I always say to my
J.husband: "You see this bag, if I didn't make it I would buy it at any price!" Thankfully I can have them all and feel proud when I, or anyone else that purchased our bags, get complemented on their beauty.
