Story: I've been creating ever since I can remember and its
not until I realized the power of expression that I began to truly understand
the why of my being. I'm 25, 6'3", 180lb and have a charming personality…. on the
right day of course. I embrace change and non-conformity and am very aware that
I am here to encourage others to do so as well. I'm a hopeless anachronistic
that bows in the presence of esthetic and beauty from past worlds yet I see
myself traveling 186,000 miles per second enamored with modern design and future
dimensions.
The one thing that stands out about my bags is the structured silhouette, which
embodies power and beauty, femininity and masculinity, the classic and the
modern. Creating a wonderful sense of ambiguity, which most people are afraid
yet fascinated by. The audience I target is a strong one, a confident and
grounded one who knows what to wear and how to wear it.
In pursuit of my stylistic vision I founded “Antinous Couture” in 2002 to fill
the need of haute couture fashion and accessories at an affordable price, but as
experience would show it was the latter which offered a greater measure of
versatility and popular accessibility. This encouraged me to release my line of
leather accessories under my own name, Lui Antinous. I have an eminent artistic
background in painting, drawing, sculpting, performing and shocking which I
incorporate in every design.
I had to go through fourteen different sample makers till I found the right one,
one of the sample makers had a stroke while I was working with him and I had to
help take him to the hospital were after working in leather for thirty odd years
he passed away, I’ve held on to that very last accessory he worked on just to
honor his existence as a fellow artisan.
My greatest achievement is to have done what I love to do and not have the
mental conditioning I was brought up with thwart my dreams but instead to find
my self and not be afraid or intimidated to pursue my passions.
Its all worth it so that some kid some were will look at my work and be inspired
to believe in him or herself, raise their heads high….. and keep on pushin!
