I am going to let you in on a little secret - I LOVE Martha Stewart!! I love to craft, cook, sew, decorate, photograph - I love it all. A while ago, I saw an ABSOLUTELY darling handbag that I just had to have. So, of course, I bought it - who can resist a handbag?? As I was loving my bag - I thought how fun it would be to have even MORE great handbags!! I searched for some interesting material, dove deep into my sewing knowledge (middle school / high school AND a fabulous seamstress mother!!) and VIOLA I started creating my Sweetcake Handbags!

I decided to name my business Simple Sweetcakes because of my love of Simply Fabulous and Simple Fashion (think Martha Stewart, pearls, little black dress - total classics!) AND my undeniable desire for sweets - particularly CHOCOLATE!! Naturally, I had to find the most delicious adjectives to describe my decadent fabric creations so I chose - Delightful, Honey, Creme Brulee and La Petite Sweetcakes to name a few.

My bags are created with high-quality fabrics ranging in textures and material - anything from wool to cottons to blends. Whatever catches my eye is what I am going to use to create a bag. I am inspired by the satisfaction of my customers and my never-ending imagination. I go to bed at night dreaming of my next creation. My head actually aches because I think soooo much! I have worked very hard at trial and error designs to REALLY pin down a fabulous inner structure to my bags. They are sturdy and hold their shape yet they are soft and comfy against your body. I also deal almost exclusively with satins and taffetas as linings to my bags (except for diaper bags and weekender/work bags). I LOVE the feel of satin and to have it against your skin each time you reach into the bag is quite a decadence!

I don't have a major design nightmare but I do have Weekly miniature design malfunctions! Each new design/material has its own temperament and personal opinion about the design!! My greatest achievement in this is listening to my family and friends rave about my bags. I love that they love their Simple Sweetcakes home "baked" creation! :>
