2. Yeah, i think the price is too low considering the high quality of the materials, I purchased a hobo from her website and i absolutely love/like it!! Kudos to you!! - Leila from CA, March 21, 2008.

I've always been a handbag lover, and am always inspired by my own collection of handbags plus every piece that I see in magazines, malls and TV. I've always loved the collaboration of colors and prints, from my wardrobe to accessories. I pulled out the idea from those inspirations that's just around me, waiting for me to put it together and work on it. That's when my cotton Reversible Hobo was born. Now, I'm selling my handbags on www.etsy.com and monthly at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, CA.

My basic materials are combinations of printed and solid cottons, and I only use red thread on all my creations. Red is my favorite color, and I can see how it blends with any fabric that I use.  My original reversible hobo is a great alternative to the regular tote bag that you carry for shopping or just a day at the park or beach. My concept is very casual and useful, but still fresh, chic, and basically handmade.

I started out just making small wallets, wristlets and cardcases as Christmas gifts for my friends last year, and gladly they all liked it. From that idea revolved this reversible hobo, where I got inspired by my collection of colorful printed fabrics and solids to complement. Before I enrolled for sewing classes, I was just browsing online for Spanish classes at the LATTC, trying to look for something worthwhile to do on my weekends instead of just shopping. While reading through their class offerings, the Fashion Design curriculum hit me in the head (and heart). I had to think twice or even thrice and then I finally enrolled on my first professional sewing class. Forget about Spanish class... I can learn Spanish my own way through my Latino friends and maybe Rosetta Stone. :)

Cutting is always a misery to me. I remember trying to create a hobo with a very cute and expensive fabric, but I cut the print in reverse. Imagine a flower embroidery with the stem upside down. That's bad... I was very disappointed with myself, and just had to use the fabric for smaller items.  However, at this stage, I still have a lot to learn... from sewing techniques to starting a small business. That's a lot to think about. But also at this stage, I feel great and accomplished by what I've done for this past year. It's only been a year, but look where I'm at! I've shared my designs around the country, thanks to Etsy. And shared my designs locally, thanks to the Rose Bowl Flea Market. With all the hard work, from early mornings and late nights of my line development and sewing, I know it's all worth it. And this is just the beginning.
