Story: When I was 12 years old I asked my great-grandmother,
Suzan Danon, to teach me how to use a sewing machine so I can make myself a
unique pencil case for school. Grandma Suzan was a well known top quality
seamstress in Israel. She used to make outfits for all kinds of famous women -
from known singers, to theater actresses and diplomats wives. I remember how she
explained to me that I have to "feel" the sewing machine when I'm using it, that
it is all about feeling…
I started my path in the design field as a graphic designer in a top magazine
in Israel right after I graduated from college. As a hobby, I used to love
working with different materials such as paper, polymer clay and fabrics. I
started thinking about designing textile prints after I got many great responses
about a belt that I have designed. That was when I realized that I can combine
my skills as a graphic designer with the knowledge I learned from my grandma,
and design items with unique textile patterns.
Today I have over 30 designs of handbags in a variety of colors. The uniqueness
of my bags is in the exclusive patterns that I design and print on white
fabrics. I use cotton fabrics to make the basic bags and combine on them the
fabrics that I create.
My inspiration comes from the energy and atmosphere in the streets of Tel-Aviv
city in Israel. I love to walk on the streets of Tel-Aviv and "breath" the city.
My ideas come to me at night. That's why I always have my sketch book next to me
when I go to sleep. My biggest nightmare is that some day my mind will go blank
and I won't have any more ideas. But even when I'm having a bad day and nothing
seams to work, I know that tomorrow will be a new day with new ideas.
My biggest achievement was when I faced my fears and left my job at the magazine
in order to follow my dream. It took so much courage that I can't even describe
it with words. Today I'm so happy with my decisions because I love what I do
with all my heart. I feel a great satisfaction comes when I walk down the street
and someone walks by with one of my designs.
