We are at a very exciting time within our company. This
Fall 2007, we are introducing our umbrella company, The Bumble Collection. This
is giving us the opportunity to really spread our wings into other avenues. We
are also introducing a 2 brand new labels- Buzz by The Bumble Collection &
Bumble etc. We developed our own proprietary fabric that uses special technology
to weave water and stain resistant fibers throughout the fabric. This is very
important in diaper bags since it'll be around liquids. We also develop original
prints that are only available in Bumble products. I get my inspiration for my
prints by surrounding myself with fashion. I keep an inspiration bookshelf that
has knick-knacks that I've picked up from vintage stores to just shopping sprees
about town.
I created Bumble Bags after my love of handbags and my love for textiles. I
started sewing in the 5th grade and never stopped. I began selling my wares at a
local craft show and it just never stopped growing. Customer service is #1
priority with us. We strive to please our customers so we created a mommy focus
group. Our mommy focus group consists of over 150 mommies throughout the USA.
They give us feedback on everything from fabrics to design.
Tell me one designer who hasn't experienced a nightmare - there are just so
many... It would be during fashion school... our graduating project was to
design a collection that would be showcased in the annual fashion show. I
designed a dress with the inspiration being A Midsummer's Night Dream. I spent
countless hours sewing and getting stabbed with needles. Only to have it go out
on stage and printed in the program as someone else's design. So sad.
It's always great seeing your products about town or in magazines being worn by
some celebrity. However, the most touching moment for me was receiving a card of
thanks from a mom and dad both saying how happy they were to have our bag. Since
it was their first present they opened from a friend after giving birth to their
child. They had gone though a lot to get pregnant and this was their shining
moment - to be part of all that simply made my career. |
