I have been a fashion designer for ten years and specialized in handmade handbags in April 2003 and haven’t looked back since. I have always made my own bags and bags to go with my catwalk collections and often was stopped by the general public and asked where I got my bag from, friends too were always asking for one to be made for them. So I knew the demand was there and that I had the construction skills, so Boni was born to instant success.

I have very well developed construction and tailoring skills so Boni bags are as strong as they are beautiful. This is very important to me as too often handmade bags are of shabby craftsmanship. Boni bags now sell internationally and new collections are designed and made four times a year at our studio in Northern Ireland. All Boni bags are limited editions, handmade by us, not designed and made by someone else the other side of the world. There are never more than five is made of ANY bag. This doubled with the fact we made our own adornments too means you really do get and all round exclusive couture handbag that is simply not available to everyone. 

All Boni bags are fully faced and colorfully lined inside, just like a high quality tailored jacket. The bags also have hard bottoms, giving them strength, durability and continued shape, this is very unusual in handmade fabric bags. We also 100% make all the trims and adornments used for the bags, adding to there uniqueness. We often use fabric synonymous with Ireland such as colorful tweeds and Irish linens but in non-traditional and innovative ways. Our target customer is a lady of any age, who appreciates the finer things in life and seeks out quality and unique products to add panache to her look.

Considering we make personalized handbags, we have plenty of horror stories.  However, my design nightmares are often someone else’s dream so I always let the customer decide...  My greatest achievement is after four years still to be running a full time growing couture handbag business, and employing others in our current climate of mass produced, trend led fashion. I could drop a few names of the high profile customers we have supplied but I prefer to let the bags to speak for themselves, it’s worked so far.
