| I was born in the city of Lviv, the cultural capital of
Ukraine in 1977. I finished school with a completion with distinction from
Ukrainian High School of Art and Design in 1997 with the specialty in Design of
Women’s Outfits & Accessories. This allowed me to participate in numerous
international cultural events, such as “Fashion and Myself,” “Eco-Action” with
industrial waste kids’ collection, “Mini – Miss 2000, ” “Art vs. AIDS,” “Night
Club” collection in International Festival of Fashion “Leopolis,” “Art in The
Park” 2006, “Women’s Art Festival” in 2006, just to name a few.
Besides all normal cultural and art activities I do now, I have continued my
career, as both an owner and a teacher in the Art Studio “Doll,” based in
Toronto. I made my first bag with usage of paper and fabric when I was 8 and I
was hooked from there. I still love unusual materials for creation of bags. I
like to combine industrial and natural material like metal and dry grass, wire
and natural stone or plastic and feathers. In 2001, I started a metal
weaving collection bags by using long strips of metal and metal sheets.
Next was wire weaving. I use a lot man's tools and learn about them but it
hasn't been so easy, but very interesting nonetheless. I just can't help that I
fell in love with metal - I am just hooked!
I really don't have nightmare story as I try to be optimistic and happy. I'm
designing everything which is 100% handmade. Every bag design is unique and I
never made two same bags. I know it's both good and bad, but it's my decision.
My biggest dream is to make the world more beautiful and for me it is creating
Bags that are Art. I'm working with Love in my heart and I hope to make
somebody happy with my design. |
